The trio embark on a quest to reunite the baby with its parents, get into several dangerous predicaments and reveal secrets about their pasts as their journey progresses.
Though it avoids some sentimentality, Tokyo Godfathers" is the most contrived of Satoshi Kon's four animated features. One is always aware of where the director's plot is going, few moments surprise, moments of pathos feel far too calculated, Satoshi offers no real insights into homelessness and his visuals are mostly generic. Elsewhere the usual Christmas values are espoused - family, love, kindness, friendship, don't stab your father – though Satoshi undermines them all with a bit more grit and grime than is typical of the genre (one of our heroes, for example, is a transsexual. On the plus side, the film offers some nice Christmas ambiance, seems to be channelling Neil Jordan and Satoshi is always strong with climaxes.
5/10 – Worth one viewing.

This tells that the color blue is being used to portray a idol/actress with a seemingly perfect life or just simply the world people surround themselves in. And compared to the over saturated colors in the much darker scenes, the shade of blue is much more pleasant to the eye, showing that the public is keen of seeing a perfectly crafted world that the idols portray, like in the film. No wonder the film is called “perfect blue”.

I think Tristan forgets that the religious theme of Christmas is the redemption of Man though the birth of a helpless infant.  To me, the three street people (the Three Kings? who rescue the infant, are themselves rescued (though I haven't seen the film yet, I presume the perfect ending doesn't leave everyone dead in the gutter) by the child. Considering how to the Japanese, Christmas is a lover's holiday with no Christian overtones at all, having such a story of birth and redemption is pretty powerful stuff for a Japanese audience. I kinda feel bad for kpop idols and other famous people. Kpop idols mostly are the one's who have far more stalkers,crazy fanbase,and always on camera. Just go to the kpop fanbase or a video and you can see how crazy they are. They are basically worshipping them and over sexualizing them. It might look cute,but it's scary once you start thinking. And yes I do listen to kpop(Only Nu'est and Bts) but I'm not obsessed. I just listen and move on lol.

I was pretty much deceived by this movie; I was hoping that the director could use the animation media as well as in perfect blue or millennium actress where all the characters can switch from a real to an unreal world without any sign or clues. This wasn't the case at all.
This is a good movie, but not as stunning as we would expect from that director!
Perfect blue left me a chocking impression that continues to flash in my head during months. Millennium actress was just a brilliant work full of beauty and touching story where time seemed to break every scene. I didn't find anything of this range in the last one. It's beautiful as it could be expected, it's a great story with a fun experience, but at the end, nothing is left to remember it! It was just too light for my huge expectations.

That was absolutely beautiful and thorough. This is always an emotional movie to me, more than many, so I FELT a lot of the intentions of the themes of light and wind, but the analytical and whole of it escaped me.
