After I finished reading I cried for hours and then I had this moments for like a couple of days when I just started crying out of nowhere because Finch keep coming to my mind and I was so devastated. Read my blurb-length review for In Review Online here: Begins as a charming and heartwarming love letter from a son to his Italian supermodel mother who made a social impact on the industry, but quickly veers into being a movie about himself and his own lifelong obsession with her. Much of the film feels more like a behind the scenes featurette for the finished product than a completed film.  If the lost privacy of a supermodel is a central theme to the film, then constantly invading her space against her repeated demands to turn off the camera or stop filming only achieves to establish an intrusive and uncomfortable vibe for the viewer. Perhaps less honest filmmakers would have cut that footage out, but given the nature of the films subject, … A good chunk of this film is immoral and simply should not exist. Like a Jahar Panahi film without any of the empathy, Beniamino intentionally or unintentionally presented himself as the villain of his own movie, constantly filming his mother no matter how much she curses him and pleas for him to stop. Here is a woman who despises the very nature of the image, and he proceeds to shove a camera in her face for over an hour. Worst of all are the sections where he films her while sleeping, which is not cutesy, but a gross violation of trust and consent. Not that any of the other footage is consensual. It's a shame, for Benedetta Barzini is a fascinating subject, and the old interview footage and the coverage of the feminist courses she gives are riveting. If the entire documentary had been about that, it would not have been this unethical. Siamo bloccati dal montaggio frenetico, costretti dallo sguardo caleidoscopico dei Safdie che sanno esattamente come renderci spettatori inermi della tragedia. Incatenati, schiacciati da una frana di eventi che lasciano soltanto i nostri occhi liberi di scrutare. Vorremmo chiuderli, ma non è più possibile. Siamo esattamente come Arno ( interpretato da un Eric Bogosian chirurgico) uno dei tanti creditori (e non solo) di Howard: attraverso i suoi occhi passa tutto Diamanti grezzi. C'è un senso di pietà ancestrale, c'è rigetto, flebile speranza e triste rassegnazione di fronte alla tragedia in atto. E gli occhi di Arno, come i nostri, dovranno rimanere aperti fino alla fine. Frammenti neri Diamanti grezzi non smette mai di aprire il suo sorriso tirato. Basta questo per convincere Howard di potercela fare davvero. Non perde mai la rugginosa speranza che la sua vita sia pronta a cambiare. Sbraita, gesticola, azzanna. Perché nella sua testa nessuno potrà metterlo in un angolo. Perché alla fine sarà lui a vincere l'ultima scommessa. This is kinda like 5 of the same thing isn't it. 2:26 Who is the boss? He is the boss. This has got to be one of my favorite films. Ephron did a great job on the script- its hilarious. Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan have great screen chemistry. Carrie Fisher and Bruno Kirby are fabulous in supporting roles. Its romantic, funny, and I'm positive people can relate to the movie- both male and female. Hmm... Im guessing that the Korean drama “Whats Wrong With Secretary Kim” was somehow inspired from this movie.

I watch this movie every New Years Eve and, each time that I see this it is still clever and funny. This film dosen't have much of a plot. It is mainly about two people Harry(played hilariously by Billy Crystal) and Sally (Meg Ryan. They meet on a trip to New York and they talk and it's so funny. Harry thinks that he knows everything and Sally is obsessive. And then the trip ends and they move on. Later in their lives they meet again and Harry is in a state of knowing nothing and Sally is happy. Then they meet again and this time they become friends and normal romantic comedy stuff happens. Yet this is better. Nora Ephron's writing is so great and clever that you are happy for the whole duration of the movie. There are some funny jokes in here and it really is great. Billy Crystal is the highlight of this film. He is the one with the dialog in the movie and it is so funny to hear his philosophies. He's down to earth and talks a lot. Meg Ryan well acts like Meg Ryan. If you don't know what I mean go watch every romantic comedy that came out in the 90's. This film acts like a chick flick. I mean come on there is a one thing that goes into chick flicks in the 90's. Meg Ryan. And this movie is a romantic comedy but the thing is it's not as fake and magic oriented as movies like the mediocre Sleepless in Seattle.I think what changes this film is mainly the dialog and the sense that the people are progressing through life. The way that time passes and how that changes the characters views makes the film seem real. And it gives you the feeling that these people know each other. Now the ending of this movie is kind of a romantic comedy ending but you don't care. You've had such a charming ride by the end of the film that you don't care if it ends so cheesy. Also as a slight addition there are married people explaining the way they got married scattered throughout the film. And they are nice to listen to. These could have been out of place but they're not. I actually enjoy this a lot. I give this film a 9 out of 10.
